- We Build Eco use bio-based materials which are non-toxic.
- All our products are internationally certified and have Environmental Product Declarations
- All our materials have been carefully chosen for their whole low life cycle impact
- Our choice of I joist thicknesses, together with our bio-based boards and insulation provides sufficient insulation to create a low energy demand thermal envelope far exceeding building control requirements and typically reaching Passive House levels of insulation and airtightness.
- Our long phase shift times reduce the need for air conditioning in the summer months.
- The hygroscopic nature of the materials allows the thermal envelope to breathe, using an MVHR system will prevent the build-up of moisture internally.
- The airtight system allows for a more comfortable living environment.
- The pre-cut timber reduces the amount of timber waste on-site using flatpack reduces transportation costs.

Timber construction: a positive CO₂ balance

Oxygen (O₂) is released into the atmosphere and carbon is removed from the atmosphere in the form of wood.
A positive CO₂ balance can only be achieved by harvesting trees, using their wood for material purposes and replanting young trees, which then actively bind CO₂ again.
Timber is CO₂ negative

Timber absorbs and stores more carbon than it emits in its production, processing and installation.
Minimal volume of timber required

Steico I joists use up to 73% less raw material compared with a standard solid-timber stud, rafter, joist construction.
