The dimensions on your 2D plans are entered into our 3D Cadworks programme using our library of panels for the walls and roof. These are based on Steico I Joists ranging from 160mm to 400mm wide. Working to the target section U values each section is then designed with an internal vapour/airtight racking board and an external rigid wood fibre board or rigid wood fibre board with a wind/weathertight membrane.
3D Cadworks plans provide our Hundegger saw with:
- exact dimensions to cut.
- instructions to precisely label/mark each cut piece
- instructions to precisely print positioning marks on each piece for jointing
Using 3D Cadworks also allows a better understanding of the internal space especially useful for complicated habitable roofing spaces. We work with your architect or designer using our 3D model of the building to adjust or correct the design for optimal use of space, improve building performance, simplify connections and junctions (where possible) and reduce costs.
3D modelling is also a useful tool for designers to help their customers envisage the finished product, so much better than a flat 2D drawing.
The finished 3D model is also used to create the assembly instructions provided with each WBE building shell, this ensures that all sections and additional materials are correctly accounted for, synchronised with the cut and labelled elements, and included in the delivered kit. This is how WBE consistently provides a comprehensive ‘kit of parts’ for each project to construct the entire weathertight and airtight, insulated structural shell.
Although erecting a We Build Eco shell is straightforward for an experienced carpenter and a small team of helpers we also provide training for the team as part of our service, this service is optional but recommended. This is usually a day for the walls and roof, depending on the complexity and size of the project, during which time the team is shown how to put together the frame and apply the airtight membranes and tapes. Once a team has erected ‘one’ We Build Eco shell the subsequent projects normally require little additional support from us.
If blown-in insulation is being used then we recommend using one of our approved installers to blow in the insulation on-site once the frame is weathertight. Alternatively, you can make your own arrangements for blowing insulation, we will be happy to assist where this is the case.
